Washington DC : Basilica of the National Shrine

On 15th March 2025, after finishing my visit to the Franciscan Monastery, I visited the Basilica of the National Shrine as my next destination.

The official name is the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

... and it was much bigger than I expected. Construction began in the 1920s, but it was only completed recently. Perhaps because of this, as I walked around, I often felt that the building had a modern touch.

The above photo shows a painting on the innermost ceiling of the Basilica, and it was quite impressive because Jesus was depicted wearing attire similar to that of Buddha.
